CULMINATING PRESENTATION FINAL EXAM PROJECT: SEMESTER I
In the next week, each student will become a contributing member of a team that has the task of presenting one of the Empires of the First Age of Empires to the rest of the class. In making that presentation each team will prepare three things:
1. A bibliography of each site and each source that they used in the course of preparing their presentation (see guidelines below)
2. A poster or slideshow (or both) that displays the important information about their assigned Empire;
3. A brief (5 minutes) oral presentation using no more than eight overheads or slides to explain and amplify the most important parts of your presentation.
Each team member must contribute to the poster and the presentation. Each team will be evaluated on the quality of their bibliography, poster, and overheads or slideshow frames to explain and amplify the information contained on their poster.
An excellent presentation of an Empire will include the following:
· The effects of geography upon the culture and the success of the Empire
· The historical roots of the Empire and the outside influences upon it
· The resources and the advantages of the Empire (economic, natural resources, manpower, and others)
· The geographical extent of the Empire
· A description of its social, political, and economic organization and institutions
· Significant individuals who helped to create and shape this Empire
· Its achievements and contributions to humanity
· An analysis of whether it was truly an empire
· Map of the Empire
· Timeline (highlighting significant periods and events)
· 15 Images (primary source artwork, sculptures, buildings, etc.) minimum
· Title page/ slide (with names of students presenting)
· Bibliography (APA or MLA format)- DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA- YOU NEED TO USE A MINIMUM OF FIVE SOURCES- You may use your textbook as ONE source
· Use short bullets in your presentation of your own words
· PLAGIARISM WILL RESULT IN FAILURE
· Highly creative and nice layout!
· IMPORTANT: YOU MUST USE A GOOGLE DOC TO SAVE THE TEXT OF YOUR REASERCH!
All teams and individuals will display their presentations on the final days of the semester. 25% will be deducted from any late projects. All make-ups will be individual reports and will be scheduled one on one with myself and the dean of students. I will be here to help you before school, during lunch, or after school if you need it.
