III. School Renaissance Fair:
Month of March, 2011 Day in the Life of Renaissance Italy!
Introduction:
The focus of this Unit project is to help you gain an understanding of the main themes of life during the Renaissance
– what did people wear, eat, and do for fun? Where did they live, work, and relax? What embodies Renaissance culture, from a humanist's perspective?
1.) First you will pair up with another partner (no exception) and will sign up for a role you will take up. You are to use the available resources to research this particular group.
2.) Then will then incorporate from the list below the following in your teaching lesson:
A. Written 750 word minimum typed and researched paper including:
• A history of your topic from a renaissance perspective (example:explain the story of Renaissance food dishes? )
• A narrative where you describe the typical "day in the life of" (example: what did court jesters do all day?)
B. Live teaching where during the fair you incorporate the following:
• A performance of a certain skill or art form you are discussing (example: show how a certain dance went)
• An interactive lesson for elementary students in which THEY participate (example: have kids shoot a bow, etc)
• A brief poster/ trifold display of your topic (example: fabric swatches for fashion)
