II. Student Created Modern Conflict Website Project
Directions
After you get together with your partner, you will work on creating a website addressing the issue of a modern conflict you decide on. In order to create this site, you will be using weebly, an easy, free website design program. I will teach you everything you need to know for this project in terms of online tools.
1.) Please work with your random partner to sign up for a topic of research. One team per conflict. SEE THE GOOGLE DOC FOR TOPIC SIGN-UP LIST
Modern Conflict:_______________________________________________
2.) Next, you will use the first four areas of the Global Issues Analysis Model as a starting point to fill the content of your website (check my website- Global Issues- Resource Links for it). I do not want you to just create a site which lists randomly information off the model. I want you to be creative and inject the information from this into a website you design.
For full credit, research should have:
I. The Causes of the Conflict- Including:
1.Map/ Geography in which conflict took place
2. Timeline of major events
3. Detailed Analysis WHY the conflict happened
4. Major Players (Leaders , Generals, etc) involved
5. Written Primary Sources from the conflict
6. Perspectives from BOTH sides of the conflict
II. How the conflict was fought- Including: :
1.Technology used, weapons.
2. Strategies, tactics used,
III. Effects of the conflict- Including: :
1. An explanation of how the conflict ended, the peace process, or armistice
2. Short Term After-Effects (Casualties, etc.)
3. Long Term After- Effects (territory, cost, refugee crises)
IV. A Homemade Video which represents in your own words with
narration, a brief introduction to the war w/images, music, etc.
V. The USE and Citation of FIVE Sources- Using APA Style- you can use (citationmachine.net)
3.) Because there are two people per group, only one can do website creation/ editing at a time. Best thing to do is to focus on research first, then worry about the online component later. YOU MUST HAVE A GOOGLE DOC SHARED WITH YOUR PARTNER AND MR. EIZYK DURING YOUR ROUGH DRAFT PROCESS!
4.) You have all week to work on this project. Make use of your time wisely, I will assist as much as I can and guide you, but it is up to you to keep yourself focused and on task.
5.) HINT- The History/ Discovery Channels have great documentaries on all of the wars! You should start your research by perhaps watching one of those and taking notes!

6.) Example of website built for Global Issues last year on poverty in India:
