Main ideas to be considered:
1.“To what extent did the idea of Manifest Destiny influence the War with Mexico and the cession (Giving up) of Mexican lands to the US?”
2. What are the different viewpoints or perspectives to the causes of the war?
Quick Project List: Due Thursday end of hour
1. Make a short board game about Texas Independence or the Mexican War. You may include battles, political leaders, weapons, military leaders, flags, environmental obstacles, etc. Must include pieces, playing cards, etc.
2. Construct a model of the Battle of Alamo. Include typed labels for items in the Alamo. Dimensions of cardboard the model will be constructed on must be at least 23 inches by 30 inches.
3. Reenact a battle from the Mexican War or Texas Independence. Include a typed script and record the battle. Length must be between 3:00-5:00 minutes. Can include up to 3 members. (Include a narrator explaining what is happening, what lead to the battle and the effects after the battle)
4. Act as a news anchor and generate a series of news clips of the Mexican War. It should include the facts of specific battles, leaders, pictures and possibly reenactment footage. Length must be between 3:00 to 5:00 minutes. Include a quick script.
5. Create an online scrapbook from a soldier’s point of view of the Mexican War. (It can be from the American or Mexican perspective.) Must be at least 10 pages, tell a story, and have captions. Cite sources.
6. Write the history of the Lone Star Republic as seen through the eyes of the Mexicans. Length 500 words and must be typed and double spaced. (Include Work Cited)
7. Make a collage to depict the Mexican-American War. Dimensions of the paper must be 13” by 18”. Pictures should be numbered with an attached typed summary corresponding with each number and picture.
8. Create ten political cartoons representing the American perspective and the Mexican perspective of the Mexican War. (Five cartoons for each side, write a brief description explaining each cartoon.) Cartoon should be drawn using Toondoo.
