Final Global Issues Project Proposal:Doing Something!
“Without knowledge action is useless and knowledge without action is futile.”
~Abu Bakr.
Throughout the semester, we have analyzed key issues around the world, explored different cultures, and had a chance to exchange ideas with people from countries thousands of miles away. Now it is your chance to do something with regards to an issue you and a small group are interested in.
1.) Go to the website: http://www.dosomething.org/whatsyourthing
2.) Explore the different areas you are most interested in. Click on the topic, read the brief 11 facts about your topic.
3.) In the Act Now! Category to the right there will be several proposals to how you can teach and share with others about your issue. Click on “more ways to make a difference” for more ideas. These ideas are just to get you thinking, this doesn’t mean you can’t branch out and do your own thing.
You will be responsible for turning in the following:
I. A Group Paper ~2 Pages in length which includes all the following:
-Your Group Members
-What was the social problem/Global issue that your group addressed? Why did your group pick that particular issue?
- Which data/ figures can you include to back up your claim? (Example: if addressing relationship violence, including the figure that 58% of rape victims report being raped between the ages of 12-24.) USE MULTIPLE SOURCES
- What did you do for your action project? How did you share it with others?
III. Peer Evaluation-
-Please honestly fill out the CONFIDENTIAL evaluation.
IV. Share your projects with the class! Friday and Monday
-A brief presentation of your project which includes your issue, the way you addressed it, and other fun trinkets (pictures, videos, etc.)
-Monday, Tuesday we will present with all materials turned in.
