Greetings- A little about Mr. Eizyk
Born in the mystical land of Hummus and Falafel (Israel), Mr. Eizyk's American journey began in 1989 in the middle-sized city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he attended and graduated from Grand Rapids Public Schools. College years were spent first at Grand Rapids Community College, then Eastern Michigan University where he achieved his long awaited dream of a Bachelors degree in History and Social Studies. His teaching experiences varied widely- from student teaching in a great school in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to teaching history in Safford, Arizona, a tiny desert town where scorpions, tumbleweeds, and hot Mexican foods were a way of life. Next came a six year stint at two different schools in Iowa, the land of corn and...corn. When he got tired of typical Midwest life, he decided to go on the road again and wound up in Portland, Oregon! He's excited to be here.
He has a few passions besides teaching history and inspiring young people. One is playing guitar, 80's heavy metal and classic rock being his favorite to play, along with the occasional sprinkles of classic/folk/and other music. Another passion is motorcycle riding, where he enjoys the open road in his sports touring cycle in between dodging deadly rain storms and angry bees that like to crawl down his jacket and sting him repeatedly. Besides these, he also loves reading, playing badminton, photography, pistol and rifle shooting, and visiting random places.
